On Saturday, September 24, 2022, James "Jimmy" Ransom Hinnant, Jr., passed away. Jimmy was the bassist for the O'Kaysions known for their hit, Girl Watcher. Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Joyner's Funeral Home in Wilson. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m., at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Jimmy was retired from Wynn Salon Services, where he worked as a salesman. One of Jimmy’s greatest loves was music. He was a bass player in the band, “The O’Kaysions” who went on to have the number one hit “Girl Watcher”, in 1968 released by ABC Records. Jimmy also had a great love for his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Jimmy is survived by his twin sons, Anthony Scott Hinnant of Bradenton, Florida and Brandon Shane Hinnant of Wilson; grandson, Tyler Hinnant and great grandson, Landon Hinnant of Mechanicsville, Virginia; granddaughters, Breanna Hinnant and Baileigh Hinnant of Dudley.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patsy Holloman Hinnant; father, James Ransom Hinnant, Sr.; mother, Lois H. Scott; stepfather, Buck Scott; grandparents, Lester and Ora Shirley and uncle, Wilber Dean Shirley.
